This Privacy Policy explains what information Feldren collects when you visit feldren.com, how we use it, and what choices you have. Feldren is free to read. You do not need to create an account to read our guides.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly

When you use the contact form on this site, you may provide:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • The subject and content of your message

We use this information only to read and respond to your message, and to follow up on the same enquiry if needed. We do not use contact form details for marketing unless you have clearly asked us to, and we do not share them with advertisers.

Information collected automatically

When you visit feldren.com, our server and analytics tools record basic technical information, so the site can work securely and reliably, and so we can understand which guides are being read. This can include:

  • The pages you visit, and how long you spend on them
  • Your IP address, browser type, device type, and screen size
  • Your approximate location, such as city or region, derived from your IP address
  • The date and time of your visit, and the website that referred you here

We use this information to run and protect the site, to fix errors, to improve our guides, and to understand in general terms what readers find useful. It is not used to build a personal profile about you as an individual reader.

Information we do not collect from readers

Feldren does not offer member accounts or newsletters. Because of that, we do not ask you for your name or email address simply to read this site, and we do not store a reader account for you.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Google Analytics

Feldren uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits, such as the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and general technical details about your device and browser.

Google Analytics does not store your full IP address, and the information it collects is used in aggregated form to produce reports for us about site traffic and popular content. It is not used by Feldren to identify you personally.

Google processes this analytics data on our behalf, under Google's own privacy policy. For details about how Google handles this data, please see Google's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of Google Analytics without affecting your ability to read Feldren. You can do this by blocking analytics cookies in your browser settings, or by installing Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available from Google. If you opt out, Google Analytics will no longer collect data about your visits from that browser.

Cookies

Feldren uses cookies in three groups:

  • Essential cookies — needed for the site to work securely, for example to keep the site protected and to deliver pages correctly.
  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics, used to understand site traffic in aggregated form, as described above.
  • Third-party cookies — set by services described in this policy, such as Cloudflare for security and caching, and by affiliate merchants when you click a link to their site.

You can block, delete, or manage cookies in your browser settings. If you block analytics cookies, the site will still work normally. If you block essential cookies, some parts of the site may not work as well.

Cloudflare and image hosting

Feldren uses Cloudflare for domain services and, when enabled, for security and caching. Images on this site are hosted through Cloudflare R2 and served from images.feldren.com.

When your browser loads a page or an image, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address in order to deliver that content securely and quickly. For details, please see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Our site is hosted on a private server. Our hosting provider may process server logs, including IP addresses and pages visited, solely to operate and secure the server. It does not use that information for its own marketing.

Feldren contains affiliate links to retailers and other merchants. When you click an affiliate link and leave feldren.com, that merchant's website will collect information according to its own privacy policy, which may include cookies used to record that you came from Feldren so a commission can be attributed.

Feldren does not receive your name, email address, payment details, or order details from those merchants. We only receive general information that a referral occurred, if the affiliate program provides it.

We do not control merchants' websites, and this policy does not cover them. Please review a merchant's privacy policy before you buy from them.

Our guides may link to manufacturers, retailers, and other websites for specifications, manuals, or further reading. Feldren is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their policies when you visit them.

How long we keep information

  • Contact form messages: we keep them for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up on the same matter, and for up to 12 months after our last correspondence, unless a longer period is required by law. You can ask us to delete your message sooner, as described below.
  • Server logs: kept only for as long as needed for security and operation, and then deleted or anonymised.
  • Analytics data: kept in aggregated form for as long as needed to understand site traffic and trends. Because analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally, we cannot always locate and delete an individual analytics record, but you can stop future collection at any time by opting out as described above.

Children

Feldren is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us through the contact form and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to ask what information we hold about you, to ask for a correction, to ask for deletion, and to object to or limit certain uses of it.

To make a privacy request, or to ask a question about this policy, please use the contact form on feldren.com and state that your message is about privacy. We will respond as promptly as reasonably possible.

If you contact us about analytics data, please note that we may not be able to identify your individual analytics records, as described above, but we will explain what we can do and help you opt out going forward.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the site and its server, including keeping software up to date and limiting access to the server. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new service, change how the site works, or if the law changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site where practical.

Continued use of feldren.com after a change means you accept the updated policy.
